Culture of Growth

Iterative Learning

Agile for Autism is a nonprofit initiative founded to help parents build up education and therapy programs for their children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Each child on the spectrum has such unique needs and aptitudes that they require highly customized programs. Parents suddenly find themselves in a position where nobody can give them a confident answer about what will or won't work for their children. Even among siblings what fits one won't fit the other. Since there aren't any off-the-shelf solutions to the challenges of ASD, it's very common for parents to feel frustrated, overwhelmed, and lost. However, there are a lot of tools out there to help parents develop the best custom programs possible for their kids.

Agile Methodologies were originally invented in the IT industry to help build custom software solutions through iteration. Build something quickly. Analyze how it performs. Make adaptations and repeat this process again and again. Yet, at its core, Agile isn't about software, systems, or business at all - it's about people. All its best practices are focused around promoting healthy teams, a culture of growth, and problem-solving through iterative learning. That's something that can be applied to any complex challenge. Agile for Autism is about getting those tool to parents and supporting them with a positive culture.
